Tato část ISO 9015 specifikuje zkoušky tvrdosti na příčných řezech svarových spojů obloukově svařovaných kovových materiálů. Odpovídá zkouškám tvrdosti podle Vickerse podle ISO 6507-1, obvykle se zkušebními zatíženími 49,03 N nebo 98,07 N ( HV 5 nebo HV 10).
Pro uvedenou zkoušku lze však v zásadě použít zkoušení podle Brinella (s vhodnými zkušebními zatíženími HB 2,5/15,625 nebo HB 1/2,5) podle ISO 6506-1 a zkoušení mikrotvrdosti podle ISO 6507-1 a ISO 9015-2.
Tuto část ISO 9015 není možno používat pro zkoušky svarů na austenitických korozivzdorných ocelích
