V této části normy jsou popsána zařízení a uvedeny jednoduché metody pro rutinní měření rozměrů žárovzdorných výrobků. Jsou uvedeny též metody kontroly shody tvaru, stanovení vydutosti (konkávnosti), vypuklosti (konvexnosti) a odchylek od pravoúhlosti. Norma neurčuje kritéria pro převzetí nebo odmítnutí výrobků. Pokud není dohodnuto jinak, je použití těchto metod omezeno na normalizované tvary podle ISO 5019-1 až ISO 5019-6 a na ISO 5417.
