Norma obsahuje ISO 4297:1978. Tato mezinárodní norma uvádí všeobecná ustanovení pro metody chemické analýzy manganových rud a koncentrátů. Ve všeobecných ustanoveních jsou normalizovány základní požadavky na provádění zkoušek (např. pro chemikálie, laboratorní zařízení, postup při zkouškách ). Na bezpečnost a ochranu zdraví při práci není upozorňováno. ČSN ISO 4297 (44 1575 ) byla vydána v prosinci 1992. Nahradila ČSN 44 1801 z 11.5.1980
