Tato část ISO 5667 určuje zásady, kterými je potřeba se řídit při postupech odběru vzorků vody určené k lidské spotřebě. Pro účely této části ISO 5667 voda určená k lidské spotřebě zahrnuje:
- a) všechnu vodu buď v původním stavu nebo po úpravě, určenou k pití, vaření, přípravě potravy, nebo k dalším účelům v domácnostech, bez ohledu na její původ;
- b) všechnu vodu používanou v jakémkoli výrobním podniku pro výrobu, konzervaci nebo marketing výrobků nebo látek určených k lidské spotřebě, pokud kompetentní národní úřady nejsou přesvědčeny, že jakost vody nemůže ovlivnit kvalitu (prospěšnost) potraviny v její konečné formě.
