Tato norma je českou verzí mezinárodní normy ISO 9248:1992. Mezinárodní norma ISO 9248:1992 má status české technické normy. Tato mezinárodní norma stanoví základní jednotky, značky a mezní úchylky pro měření celkových rozměrů stroje, výkonu a jiných veličin strojů pro zemní práce určených v ISO 6165 (v ČR zavedena jako ČSN ISO 6165). [Jedním z normalizovaných technických parametrů, na který se norma vztahuje, je také "hladina tlaku zvuku".] Nevztahuje se na použité metody a přístroje.
