Intermodal Loading Units (ILUs) loaded on suitable wagons or bogies may exceed in their upper part the loading gauge permitted on the line. This IRS sets out the requirements for the coding system intended to ensure the compatibility of ILUs loaded on adapted wagons or bogies with the permissible profile for combined transport lines and the safety requirements specific to combined transport. Appendix H of this IRS provides: - the procedure for the recognition by UIC of the conformity assessment bodies that are in charge of coding according to this IRS, - the list of the conformity assessment bodies that are recognised by UIC, In particular, the present IRS sets out the requirements for: - the coding of the lines on which CT trains are operated, - the coding of the intermodal transport units and - the assignment to the CT wagons of the wagon compatibility code and, potentially, the correction digits. It is addressed to Railway Undertakings, Infrastructure Managers, Wagon and ILU manufacturers, Bodies in charge the coding of ILUs, Bodies in charge of the allocation of the Wagon Compatibility Code (WCC) and the correction digits to CT wagons. It integrates in full or in part the following UIC leaflets: UIC Leaflet 596-6 It complements the following standards: EN 13044-1, EN 13044-2, EN 13044-3, EN 15877-1
