This document applies to the design and construction principles of earthworks and track bed layers of railway lines.   It provides technical experts and managers comprehensive knowledge and examples with precise explanations to use its content.   Within its structure, apart from providing definitions, principles and general rules for the design of earthworks to be used in railway lines to support track bed layers, updating the former UIC Leaflets 719 (Earthworks and track bed construction for railway lines) and 722 (Methods of improving the track formation of existing lines), one of the main objectives of this new document is to take into account the contents of some of the EN standards relative to the issues addressed in the document.
