Dieser Teil von IEC 60512 wird für die Bewertung von Steckverbindern innerhalb des Anwendungsbereichs von SC 48B angewendet, welche in symmetrischen einpaarigen Kommunikationsverkabelungen mit Fernspeisung, z. B. zur Unterstützung von Fernspeisungsanwendung nach IEEE 802.3 für Punkt-zu-Punkt-Verbindungen, verwendet werden. Der Zweck dieses Dokuments ist die Festlegung eines detaillierten Prüfplans zur Bestimmung der Fähigkeit von Sätzen einpaariger Steckverbinder nach Definition in der Normenreihe IEC 63171, mindestens 100 mechanischen Betätigungen mit elektrischer Belastung standzuhalten, wobei durch den Steckverbinder während des Trennens (des Ziehens) ein Strom in Übereinstimmung mit IEC 60512-9-3 geleitet wird. In diesem Dokument werden keine Mehrpunktnetz-Stromversorgungsanwendungen einpaariger Steckverbinder behandelt.
