Diese Europäische Norm legt die allgemeinen Lieferbedingungen für Gesenkschmiedeteile aus Stahl fest. Diese Schmiedeteile werden durch Schlag oder Druck bei einer angemessenen Temperatur (warm oder halbwarm) in einem Gesenk hergestellt, das während des Umformprozesses das Vormaterial entsprechend seiner Hohlform ausbildet. Ähnliche Teile, wie Warmfließpreß- und Stauchteile werden ebenfalls als Teil des Herstellungsprozesses gesehen. Diese Europäische Norm gilt auch für Gesenkschmiedeteile, wenn ihre Oberfläche teilweise oder ganz durch Kaltumformen oder Kaltprägen nachbehandelt ist, um die Oberflächengüte zu verbessern oder die Maßgenauigkeit zu erhöhen. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Freiformschmiedeteile, bei deren Herstellungsprozeß das Werkzeug die hergestellten Teile nicht ganz umschließt.
