Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar für Blankstahlerzeugnisse in Form gerader Stäbe im gezogenen, geschälten oder geschliffenen Zustand. Dieses Dokument ist hauptsächlich anwendbar auf die nichtrostenden Stähle nach EN 10088-3 und andere Erzeugnisnormen, z. B.: Werkzeugstähle und Wälzlagerstähle. Dieses Dokument kann auch für Kaltstauchstähle sowohl in der Form von Stäben als auch in der Form von Draht verwendet werden. Bei Drähten gelten die Dicke und die Toleranzen, nicht aber die Länge und die Geradheit. Die unlegierten und legierten Stähle der EN 10277 sind nicht länger Bestandteil dieser Norm. Dieses Dokument ist nicht anwendbar für kaltgewalzte Erzeugnisse und für aus Band oder Blech geschnittene Stäbe.
