Diese Europäische Norm legt das Verfahren zur Messung der Koerzivität magnetischer Werkstoffe in einem offenen Magnetkreis fest. Die Norm gilt für magnetische Werkstoffe mit einer Koerzivität bis 500 kA/m. Besondere Vorkehrungen müssen bei Messungen von Koerzivitäten unter 40 A/m und über 160 kA/m getroffen werden, siehe Anhang A.
