Diese Europäische Norm legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit von Armaturen fest, die in oberirdisch oder erdverlegten Rohrleitungssystemen für die Wasserversorgung verwendet werden, oder mit diesen verbunden sind (siehe prEN 805 : 1999), die Wasser führen, welches für den menschlichen Verbrauch bestimmt ist. Diese Norm legt die allgemeinen Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, die Anforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit und das Konformitätsbewertungsverfahren für Armaturen fest, unabhängig von ihrer Bauart und den Werkstoffen.
