Die Prüfung ist auf natürliche und künstliche Gesteinskörnungen anwendbar. Sie definiert die verwendeten Begriffe, beschreibt das Prüfprinzip und gibt Angaben über die zu verwendenden Prüfeinrichtungen. Der Anhang A (normativ) enthält Angaben über die Kalibrierung des Meßgerätes, der Anhang B gibt andere Schüttdichtezustände an und der Anhang C enthält eine Bibliographie.
