Die Funktionsanforderungen und Prüfverfahren für äußere organische Umhüllungen aus Bändern oder schrumpfende Materialien für den Korrosionsschutz von in Böden oder Wässern verlegten Stahlrohrleitungen in Zusammenwirken mit kathodischem Korrosionsschutz sind festgelegt. Umhüllungen werden nach steigendem Widerstand gegen steigende mechanische Belastung und nach Betriebstemperaturen klassifiziert. Umhüllungen für Sonderfälle sind ebenfalls berücksichtigt. Festgelegt ist eine umfassende Klasseneinteilung mit Bezug auf Funktionsanforderungen. Die Bänder und schrumpfende Materialien, die die Anforderungen dieser Klassen erfüllen, können verschiedenen Arten angehören, die in dieser Norm beschrieben sind. Hinweise auf die Bewertung der Konformität sowie auf die Qualitätssicherung sind enthalten.
