Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Koksrückstandsmenge im Bereich von 0,10 % (m/m) bis 30,0 % (m/m) fest, die nach einer Verdampfung und Pyrolyse von Mineralölerzeugnissen unter festgelegten Bedingungen übrig bleibt. Für Erzeugnisse mit einer Rückstandsmenge von mehr als 0,10 % (m/m) sind die Prüfergebnisse gleich denen, die mittels Conradson-Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Koksrückstands (siehe ISO 6615) im Bereich von 0,10 % (m/m) bis 25,0 % (m/m) erhalten werden. Diese Internationale Norm gilt auch für Mineralölerzeugnisse, die hauptsächlich aus Destillaten bestehen und die einen Koksrückstand unter 0,10 % (m/m) aufweisen können. Bei diesen wird vor der Analyse mittels dem in 7.3.1 und 7.3.2 beschriebenen Verfahren ein Destillationsrückstand von 10 % (V/V) hergestellt. Sowohl aschebildende Komponenten nach ISO 6245 als auch in der Probe vorhandene nichtflüchtige Additive tragen zum Koksrückstandswert bei und sind im berichteten Gesamtwert enthalten.
