Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Polymerisationslampen im Wellenlängen-bereich 380 nm bis 515 nm fest, die für die Anwendung am Patientenstuhl zur Polymerisation von Dentalwerkstoffen auf Kunststoffbasis vorgesehen sind. Dieses Dokument gilt für Quarz-Wolfram-Halogenlampen und Lumineszenzdiodenlampen (LED). Polymerisationslampen können über eine eingebaute Energieversorgung (wieder aufladbare Batterie) verfügen oder an die externe Stromversorgung (Stromnetz) angeschlossen werden. Laser oder Plasmalichtbogengeräte werden in dieser Norm nicht beschrieben. Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Polymerisationslampen, die im Dentallabor bei der Herstellung von indirekten Restaurationen, Veneers, Prothesen oder anderen oralen dentalen Anwendungen verwendet werden.
