Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen für 14 Klassen von kugeligen und 11 Klassen von kantigen Strahlmitteln aus Stahlguss mit hohem Kohlenstoffgehalt im Lieferzustand für Strahlprozesse fest. Für Härte, Dichte, Defekte, Anforderungen an das Gefüge und chemische Zusammensetzung sind Werte festgelegt. Die in diesem Dokument festgelegten Anforderungen gelten nur für im "Neuzustand" gelieferte Strahlmittel. Sie gelten nicht für Strahlmittel während oder nach der Verwendung. Prüfverfahren für metallische Strahlmittel sind in den verschiedenen Teilen von ISO 11125 enthalten. Stahlguss-Strahlmittel mit hohem Kohlenstoffgehalt, kugelig und kantig, werden sowohl in stationären als auch in beweglichen Strahlanlagen verwendet. Sie werden am häufigsten dann gewählt, wenn Vorrichtungen zum Aufbereiten und Wiederverwenden vorhanden sind.
