Die Schlagbohrmaschinen können durch Druckluft, über Hydraulikflüssigkeit oder Verbrennungsmotoren betrieben werden und sind dazu bestimmt, durch eine Bedienungsperson verwendet und von dieser ohne oder mit einer Halterung, z. B. einer Ausgleichseinrichtung, mit einer oder beiden Händen gehalten zu werden.
