Erdgas kann Wasserdampf enthalten, z. B. aufgrund des natürlichen Vorkommens von Wasser im Förderstrom, der Lagerung von Erdgas in Untergrundspeichern oder des Transports bzw. der Verteilung durch feuchtigkeitshaltige Leitungen oder aus anderen Gründen. Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wassergehalts von Erdgas unter Drücken von mehr als 1 Mpa fest, wobei die obere Druckgrenze durch den maximalen Druck, dem das Messgerät standhalten kann, bestimmt wird. Das Verfahren ist anwendbar für schwefelwasserstofffreies Erdgas (Süßgas) sowie schwefelwasserstoffhaltiges Erdgas (Sauergas) mit einem Wassergehalt von 10 mg/mł oder mehr. 1) ANMERKUNG Die Testergebnisse können durch in dem Probengas enthaltene Alkohole, Thiole (Mercaptane), Schwefelwasserstoff und Glykol beeinträchtigt werden, da diese Verbindungen mit dem Wasserdampfabsorbenten Phosphorpentoxid (P2O5) reagieren.
