Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Referenzverfahren zur Bestimmung des Fettgehaltes von Milch guter physikochemischer Qualität fest. Das Verfahren ist anwendbar auf Rohmilch, Schafsrohmilch, Ziegenrohmilch, Milch mit reduziertem Fettgehalt, Magermilch, chemisch konservierte Milch und verarbeitete Flüssigmilch. Es ist nicht anwendbar, falls eine größere Genauigkeit bei Magermilch benötigt wird, z. B. um die Betriebsleistung von Separatoren zu ermitteln.
