Tato norma stanovi zasady formalni nakladatelske (vydavatelske) upravy knih (vcetne vicesvazkovych souboru a nepravych periodik, jejichz svazky maji podobu knihy), brozur a pokud se tyka tiraze, tez jednolistovych publikaci (map, reprodukci, portretu, nazornych pomucek a pod.), tistenych po obou stranach listu. Norma se vztahuje i na ucelove a zajmove publikace. Norma je zamerana predevsim na skladbu, usporadani a umisteni dulezitych udaju o publikaci a dalsich nalezitosti. Pri dodrzeni stanovenych zasad norma neomezuje rozmanitost vytvarne, graficke a typograficke upravy.
