Táto európska norma špecifikuje všeobecné požiadavky na rúry a ich spoje určené na používanie v kanalizačných potrubiach a stokách, ktoré sú vybudované s použitím bezryhových stavebných metód pretláčania potrubia, mikrotunelovania a riadeného pretláčania+) definovaných v EN 12889 ako gravitačné systémy v súlade s EN 476, kde akýkoľvek vyskytujúci sa tlak je maximálne 40 kPa, alebo ako systémy prevádzkované pod tlakom v súlade s EN 773, kde tlak môže byť väčší ako 40 kPa.
