Podľa metódy opísanej v tejto európskej norme sa stanovuje koncentrácia látok obsahujúcich chlór v odpadovom plyne po prechode odberovou aparatúrou vrátane filtra na tuhé častice, pričom v absorpč-nom roztoku vznikajú Cl- ióny.Táto štandardná referenčná metóda sa zhodnotila počas skúšok v teréne v spaľovni odpadov.Metódu možno použiť pri analýze odpadových plynov, kde koncentrácia vyjadrená ako HCl je v rozsahu od 1 mg m-3 do 5 000 mg m-3 pri štandardnom tlaku a teplote (pozri poznámku 1) a podľa emisných limitov napríklad uvedených v smernici 2000/76/EC o spaľovniach odpadov.
