Táto medzinárodná norma sa zaoberá bezpečnosťou nasledujúcich spotrebičov, ktorých menovité napätie nie je vyššie ako 250 V pri jednofázových spotrebičoch, 480 V pri ostatných spotrebičoch a 24 V jednosmerných pri spotrebičoch, ktoré sa napájajú z batérií: chladiace zariadenia pre domácnosť a na podobné použitie; výrobníky ľadu so zabudovaným motorkompresorom a výrobníky ľadu určené na zabudovanie do oddielov na uskladňovanie mrazených potravín; chladiace zariadenia a výrobníky ľadu na použitie v kempingoch, turistických obytných prívesoch a v člnoch používaných na rekreačné účely.Tieto spotrebiče sa môžu napájať zo siete, z osobitnej batérie alebo ich možno napájať zo siete aj z osobitnej batérie.
