Táto medzinárodná norma poskytuje jednoduché metódy posudzovania medzných hodnôt expozície nízkovýkonových elektronických a elektrických zariadení vzhľadom na elektromagnetické polia (EMF).Ak sa nedá pri týchto zariadeniach preukázať zhoda s aplikovateľnými požiadavkami na expozíciu EMF s použitím metód zahrnutých do tejto normy na posudzovanie EMF, potom sa môžu na posúdenie zhody použiť iné normy vrátane IEC 62311, prípadne iné výrobkové normy (EMF).
