Táto európska norma určuje referenčnú metódu na premývanie a preosievanie za sucha, používanú na skúšku typu a v prípade sporov na stanovenie zrnitosti kameniva. Na iné účely, najmä pri vnútropodnikovej kontrole výroby, sa môžu použiť aj iné metódy, za predpokladu, že sa stanovil príslušný vzťah s vhodnou referenčnou metódou. Používa sa pre každé kamenivo okrem kamennej múčky. Stanovenie zrnitosti kamennej múčky je uvedené v EN 933-10 Stanovenie jemných zŕn. Zrnitosť kamennej múčky (triedenie v prúde vzduchu). Preosievanie za sucha bez premývania sa môže použiť pre kamenivo neobsahujúce zrná, ktoré spôsobujú zhlukovanie.
