Táto európska norma určuje referenčnú metódu používanú na skúšku typu a v prípade sporov na stanovenie indexu plochosti kameniva. Na iné účely, najmä pri vnútropodnikovej kontrole výroby, sa môžu použiť aj iné metódy, za predpokladu, že sa stanovil príslušný vzťah s vhodnou referenčnou metódou. Táto európska norma sa používa pre prírodné, umelé alebo recyklované kamenivo. Skúšobný postup uvedený v tejto časti tejto európskej normy sa nemôže použiť pre zrná menšie ako 4 mm alebo väčšie ako 100 mm.
