Táto medzinárodná norma stanovuje metódy na určovanie hladiny akustického výkonu alebo hladiny akustickej energie zdroja hluku z nameraných hladín akustického tlaku v dozvukovej miestnosti.Hladina akustického tlaku (alebo v prípade hlukových zhlukov alebo prechodovej emisie hluku, hladiny akustickej energie) vyžarovaná zdrojom hluku, vo frekvenčných tretinovooktávových pásmach, sa vypočíta použitím týchto meraní vrátane korekcií, aby sa skúšky mohli vykonávať pri všetkých rozdieloch, ktoré môžu existovať medzi meteorologickými podmienkami a referenčnými meteorologickými podmienkami v čase a na mieste skúšky a ktoré zodpovedajú referenčnej charakteristickej impedancii.
