The running behaviour of coupled wagon units was investigated as part of the project entitled "Defining test conditions for draw bars", with the aim of establishing a test method for draw bars and the requisite test conditions. Simulation calculations were conducted with the intention of demonstrating that the use of wagons coupled together by means of draw bars was operationally possible. In order to compare the SNCF and DB AG calculation programmes used for the investigations, calculations were also executed using data from previously-performed LCF tests. The results of the simulations showed that propelling tests on vehicles with buffers or draw bars could be simulated using the SIMPACK program, and that the multi-body simulation program could be used for variant calculations.
