Norma stanoví všeobecné předpisy a požadavky na konstrukci a výrobu všech druhů průmyslových armatur všech výrobních oborů. Zpřesněné technické požadavky nebo přísnější údaje pro jednotlivé druhy průmyslových armatur (ventily, klapky, šoupátka, kohouty atd.) mohou být uvedeny v technických dodacích předpisech pro příslušné druhy armatur, popř. v technických předpisech pro armatury jednotlivých výrobních oborů, např. pro energetiku, plynárenství, chemii a pod. Poměrně stručná technická norma stanovuje především všeobecné a technické požadavky, mnohdy jen odkazem na jiné platné technické třídy normy zejména 13. ČSN 13 3060-1 byla schválena 17.5.1988 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1989. Nahradila ČSN 13 3060-1 z 9.1.1978
