Norma platí pro chemický rozbor molybdenových koncentrátů a určuje pro stanovení bismutu metodu fotometrickou. Při provádění rozboru musí být dodržena všechna ustanovení podle ČSN 44 1701. Podstata fotometrické metody: Po rozkladu vzorku kyselinami se bismut oddělí od rušivých prvků extrakcí diethyldithiokarbamidanem sodným do chloroformu a stanoví fotometricky s xylenolovou oranží. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsán. ČSN 44 1729 byla schválena 9.6.1989 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1990. Nahradila ČSN 44 1630 část 11 z 9.1.1974 a spolu s ČSN 44 1701, ČSN 44 1721 až ČSN 44 1728 a ČSN 44 1730 až ČSN 44 1734 ji nahradila v celém rozsahu
