Norma skutečně obsahuje jen tabulky, jak je uvedeno v názvu. Norma tedy stanovuje metody zjišťování (ověřování) některých kvalitativních znaků (jakosti) významných pro hygienu výživy. ČSN 56 0001 byla schválena 23.7.1964 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.4.1965.
"Změnou a)-11/1977", se s účinností od 1.2.1978 provádějí změny v tabulce 1 (ruší se sloupec "Dílek"), v tabulce 5 se v nadpisu mění text na "relativní hustota...." a konečně se ruší tabulka 3
