Tato čtvrtá část normy určuje metody stanovení chloridu sodného pro dehydratované výrobky a ochucovadla: Metoda A - Stanovení chloridu sodného z výluhu popela (referenční metoda), Metoda B - Stanovení chloridu sodného. Všeobecná ustanovení platná pro tuto část normy jsou obsažena v ČSN 58 0703-1. Norma také (nepřímo) stanovuje některé kvalitativní znaky (jakosti) významné pro hygienu výživy, protože obsahuje požadavky na provádění metody jejich zjišťování (ověřování). ČSN 58 0703-4 byla vydána v březnu 1999. Tato část normy spolu s částmi 1 až 3 a 5 až 12 nahrazuje ČSN 58 0703 z 21.8.1963 v celém rozsahu
