Norma platí pro používání lepidel při výrobě, uzavírání a etiketování obalů a stanoví zásady výběru a používání jednotlivých druhů lepidel. Norma se zabývá těmito lepidly: vodní sklo, škrobová, dextrinová dispersní, klihová, tavná a směsná lepidla. Nejde tedy o lepidla rozpouštědlová. Jsou normalizovány technické a technologické otázky. Otázky ochrany zdraví zřejmě nepřicházejí v úvahu a normalizovány nejsou. ČSN 77 0160 byla schválena 27.5.1980 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1981
