Tato norma určuje metodu stanovení obsahu síry v ethanolu, jakožto složky automobilových benzinů. Vzorek ethanolu se spálí ve vysokoteplotní spalovací trubici fluorescenčního přístroje. Fluorescence emitovaná z excitovaného SO2 se při návratu do stabilního stavu SO2 detekuje trubicí fotonásobiče. Výsledný signál je mírou obsahu síry ve vzorku.
