Tato norma specifikuje semistatickou metodu stanovení toxicity chemických látek, vod a odpadních vod pro embrya a časná larvální vývojová stadia druhu sladkovodní ryby Danio rerio Hamilton-Buchanan (Teleostei, Cyprinidae) (běžně nazývané danio pruhované). Pokud je potřeba, může toto stanovení zahrnovat zkoušku akutní toxicity s použitím Danio rerio pro stanovení 96-h LC50 pro danio pruhované podle ISO 7346-1, ISO 7346-2 nebo ISO 7346-3. Metoda je použitelná také pro jiné sladkovodní ryby, než je danio pruhované, pokud jsou provedeny vhodné modifikace podmínek zkoušky, zejména ohledně teploty a objemu na biomasu ryb
