Táto európska norma stanovuje definície a požiadavky na prísady do betónu.Norma zahŕňa prísady do obyčajného betónu, železobetónu a predpätého betónu miešaného na stavbe, do transportbetónu a prefabrikovaného betónu. Požiadavky na vlastnosti uvádzané v tejto norme sú vhodné pre prísady používané do betónu normálnej konzistencie. Nemusia byť vhodné pre prísady do iných druhov betónu, ako sú zavlhnuté a veľmi tuhé zmesi. Ustanovenia na praktické používanie prísad na výrobu betónu, t. j. požiadavky týkajúce sa zloženia, miešania, ukladania, ošetrovania atď. betónu obsahujúceho prísady, nie sú predmetom tejto normy.
