Norma platí pro výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání sedlářských a brašnářských tříslených hlazenic z hovězin, přírodních a barvených. Není normalizován způsob činění. V hodnotách fyzikálních a chemických vlastností usní není normalizován obsah chromu (ani zkoušky na jeho vyluhovatelnost) . Norma je z tohoto hlediska nekomplexní, i když riziko - s ohledem na použití nebude veliké. (Jde o usně tříslené.) ČSN 79 2634 byla schválena 21.4.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1983. Nahradila ČSN 79 2634 a ČSN 79 2635 z r.1956. "Změnou a)-9/1985" se s účinností od 1.10.1985 mění ustanovení čl. 21: "Postup při měření tloušťky a požadavky na tloušťkoměr stanoví ČSN 79 3809"
