Norma platí pro výrobu, dodávání a zkoušení hovězinových waterproofů, obuvnických vrchových chromitých usní z hovězin, s vyšším obsahem tuku, upravených od lícové strany v provedení podle čl. 7, s krycí pigmentovou úpravou žehlenou. Ve stručné normě jsou stanoveny technické požadavky a zkoušení. Podle poř. č.10 hodnot fyzikálních a chemických vlastností je obsah oxidu chromitého normalizován na 2,9 až 5,8 %. Podle poř. č. 11 téže tabulky nesmí obsah vyluhovatelného chromu překročit 100,00 µg.g-1 (Zkouší se podle ČSN 79 3871.) ČSN 79 2241 byla schválena 11.11.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.12.1983. Nahradila ČSN 79 2241 z 27.3.1956. "Změnou a)-3/1985" se s účinností od 1.5.1985 provádí v tabulce znaků jakosti u čl. 20 úprava hodnoty vlastnosti: "obsah extrahovatelných látek dichlormethanem"
