Množinu kalibračných bodov nie je vždy možné presne vyjadriť lineárnou závislosťou, aj keď sa zmenší pracovný rozsah. Vtedy sa namiesto lineárnej regresnej analýzy aplikuje polynóm druhého stupňa (pozri test linearity v 4.1.3 ISO 8466-1: 1990[1]).
