Tato metoda je zejména použitelná pro husté výrobky, výrobky obsahující suspendované látky a výrobky s vyšším obsahem cukru. Pokud výrobky obsahují jiné rozpuštěné látky, výsledky jsou pouze orientační; nicméně podle dohody, může být výsledek obdržený touto metodou běžně považován za obsah rozpustné sušiny
